Susy Banner, una giovane ragazza di New York si reca in Germania per frequentare una famosa accademia di ballo. Arriva in una notte buia e tempestosa e assiste alla fuga di una spaventata allieva che pronuncia frasi apparentemente senza senso. Il giorno dopo viene a sapere dalla vicedirettrice che la studentessa fuggita è stata brutalmente uccisa da un maniaco. Inizia, per Susy, un lungo viaggio nell’incubo: fenomeni inspiegabili, avvenimenti apparentemente casuali e inquietanti la circondano. Una sua compagna le racconta strane storie legate alle streghe e a Miss Tanner, la direttrice della scuola….Magia, mistero, irrazionalità: non si può pretendere di conoscere perché alcune cose accadano, si può solo aspettare che l’incubo finisca!
